What’s Your Kinkaid Legacy?

J. Barry Moss
J. Barry Moss’ legacy is forever remembered at Kinkaid thanks to the generosity of the Frank family.

J. Barry Moss wore many hats during his time at Kinkaid, serving as teacher, debate coach, Upper School Principal, and Dean of Faculty. So many members of the Kinkaid community have been taught, taught with, or have children who were taught by Mr. Moss. Mr. Moss focused on the development of analytical skills, civil discourse, service to others, and commitment to excellence. He was a true inspiration to his fellow teachers and his students.

To honor Mr. Moss’ Kinkaid legacy, Ed Frank ’68 and his wife Cathy, parents of Mary John Frank ’99, Louise Frank Pennebaker ’01, and Catherine Frank ’12, established The Barry Moss Scholarship in 2000.

Thanks to generous donors like the Frank family, the School continues its commitment to providing financial aid to meet 100% of the documented need for students and families. The aid includes tuition and non-tuition assistance, such as discounted or free meals, uniforms, and computers. This year, 145 students, 10% of our student body, are receiving a total of nearly $3 million in need-based financial aid and non-tuition support.

Throughout Kinkaid’s history, the Franks’ story of giving back is one that has been repeated many times. The School is grateful for big-hearted alumni, parents, grandparents, and friends who have established endowed scholarships to help deserving students begin a Kinkaid legacy of their own.
